Ring-tailed cardinal fish (Apogon aureus). These common fish spend most of their time in small schools hiding in the shelter of the reef. When cardinal fish mate they remain together in pairs and unusually, the males act as mouth brooders, The female lays her eggs in a mass which the male fertilises then sucks into his mouth, following which the male will not feed until the eggs hatch after several weeks.
