Hantavirus inhibitor molecule. Molecular model of a pentapeptide protein that blocks the entry of hantavirus particles to human cells. This protein blocks the cell surface receptors that hantavirus binds to before entering the cell and could be used to develop drugs against the virus. Hantaviruses cause haemorrhagic fevers and severe respiratory infections that are often fatal. As of 2009 there is no effective treatment for hantavirus.
