It is somewhat curious to note that the coloration of this species is almost identical with that of the so-called maned wolf [Cams jubatus) of the same districts. Although ten is the normal number of their points, the antlers of this species are liable to " sport" in an extraordinary degree ; specimens as complex as the one represented in Fig. 75 being by no means uncommon.
