Alpe d'Huez, France. Satellite image of the Alpe d'Huez in the Central French Alps. This mountain contains a ski resort at 1780 metres and is the site of one of the most famous mountain climbs in the Tour de France. The peak of Alpe d'Huez also serves as the finish of La Marmotte, a one-day, 175 kilometre bicycle ride with a 5000 metre climb. Image taken on 21 July 2004 by Space Imaging's Ikonos satellite.
