A Yankee bachelor abroad; a "wee bit" of wit and fun and some sober facts gathered during my fourteen months' sojourn in the British isles and some parts of the continent . gh the BritishIsles to Her Majesty and received an acknowledg-ment of it from her through her private secretary, dated from Buckingham Palace. Regent Park, with its 420 acres, is a densely popu-lated district.^ In the grounds are the ZoologicalGardens. I visited the Gardens one day with somefriends who seemed bent on trying to see London inone day. They kept me on the move so that I did notsee the Gardens as thoroughly as I desired. Theydid, however, give me a little more time at the monkeycage than elsewhere, the reason being they were moreinterested in those animals than the others. I scarcelythink they believed sufficiently in the Darwiniantheory to have been looking up their ancestry. Hyde Park is another beautiful plot covering about300 acres. It was laid out by Henry VIII. At thenorth entrance is a beautiful marble arch and at thesoutheast entrance Hyde Park corner, is another. Atthis entrance one can see many splendid teams andvehicles of various kinds coming in with people from.
