Cecil Henry Desch (1874-1958), British metallurgist. Desch studied at King's College, London, and Wurzburg University in Germany. He then worked in Glasgow and at Sheffield University (up to 1932). Elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1923, he was superintendent of the metallurgy department of the National Physical Laboratory from 1932 to 1939. He was awarded the Bessemer Gold Medal in 1938. He worked at the Royal Institution for periods during the 1930s and 1940s. He wrote a major work of metallurgy 'Textbook of Metallography' (1910).
