Although G. convoluta is a close relative of G. dibranchiata, several researchers have suggested that these two venoms act in different manners and may not contain the same toxin(s) (Bon et al. 1985, Morel et al. 1983, Maddedu et al. 1984). Based on personal communication with Thieffry and Manaranche (unpublished), Bon et al.
