Nordic Idun and the Apples
In Norse mythology, the goddess Idun was the wife of Bragi, the god of poetry. Idun was the custodian of the apples that the Aesir, the main Norse gods, ate to maintain their eternal youth. When Idun was abducted by a giant, the gods began to pale and weaken and sent Loki to rescue her. This drawing is based on the 1890 painting by J. Doyle Penrose.
