A badly mutilated refuse and burial site was excavated in thenorthern part of the city of Miami Beach by G. M. Stirling assistedby Vernon Lamme. This site yielded a representative collection ofboth skeletal material and o])jects of material culture. At Belle Glade, under the direction of G. M. Stirling, a hal)itati()nmound was excavated. Adjoining this site was a sand burial mound 57 58 SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION.
