The monument called The Pencil sits on the shore at the seaside town of Largs, Scotland. It commemorates the battle in 1263 between Scotland and Norway which was indecisive, but, forged a link between Largs and Vikings and every year there is a hugely popular Viking festival held on the seafront and throughout the town. It is quiet something!
