A specialty is made of school stationery and schoolbooks, all text books being obtainable here. It was formerly almost impossible to obtain a goodshoe ready-made, but owing to the many improvements inmachinery and stock, it is now useless to buy custom-madeshoes. Among the large dealers devoting his energies to thesale of ready-made shoes may be mentioned Mr. H, gentleman started business in this city about fifteenyears ago in a comparatively small way, but through hisactivity and energy the trade has, however, greatly in-creased, until the business is the largest of its kind in thissection.
