Joliet, Illinois has long had a link with old US Route 66. The Mother Road, steeped in Americana, ran through the city on its route from Chicago to Los Angeles. Sections of the road remain today and frequent references to its former glory persist such as this vintage gas pump that resides in a park honoring the old highway route. The pump is one of a series of such devices that have been preserved around the city.
