Snout about f diameter of eye, which is 3 in length of head; interorbital width about 9. Jaws about equal anteriorly; maxillary extending to below anterior \ of eye; teeth in bands, canines small; upper surface and sides of head, including praeorbital and parts of snout, scaled; scales on head ctenoid and mostly much smaller than those on body; 3 rows of scales between the eyes; 12 gill-rakers on lower part of anterior arch. Caudal apparently rounded; caudal peduncle a little deeper than long. Body with broad, irregular cross- bars ; cheek with two indistinct oblique stripes; dorsal fins partly blackish or dusky. Hab.
