This method is intended only where market eggs are desired, quantity and not vigorous, strong germs being aimed at, and the maximum quantity has in many instances been secured under precisely these conditions. There is little fear of over-feeding a laying hen, provided she is given enough albumen-forming material to work with and the fat-formers in only sufficient quantity to keep the engine run- ning. The best egg-producers will always be found heavy in flesh (not fat) and you will never find a good la3-er in thin flesh unless she is exhausted and about to stop. Where a maximum egg production is the first and most important consideration, as it is on the average farm, it will be conceded that the birds must be kept in perfect health and their physical condition maintained by a feeling of comfort.
