Thefan for inducted draft is of the Sturte-vant make. It is 72 in. in diameter, and is driven at an average of by a 10 engine, direct connectedto it. Coal and ashes are handled by ahand car conveyor. For the circulation of the hot waterthere are installed two Marsh single-cylinder double - acting circulatingpumps, size 10x12x12, each having atheoretical capacity of gal. persingle stroke. Both pumps are equippedwith Hill pump vaves to reduce slip-page to a minimum. These pumps areequipped with modern revolution count-ers so that an accurate record of thewater pumped may be kept. There is. Map of buildings, Northwestern PLUMBER AND STEAMFITTER one large closed heater having 396 of heating surface made up of brasstubes. This heater is used in additionto the two hand-fired boilers for reheat-ing the circulation water for the hot-water system. This heater was install-ed to utilize the exhaust steam from thevarious pumps and stoker and fan en-gines. In this manner no exhaust steamwhatever is wasted. Three Marsh vacuum pumps, one size8x12x12 in., and the two each 5x6y2x 10 in., are installed in the pump roomand are used for holding vacuum on thesteam-heating return lines and for hand-ling the condensation from this system. The hot-water system is equipped witha complete set of recording thermomet-ers which show temperatures of outgoingand return water and outside tempera-ture. In addition to the recording in-struments there are regular thermomet-ers on the heater and on the returnline. The steam-he
