When General Washington was in Boston in 1789 he passedthe Sabbath here, and went to hearDr. (afterwards Bishop) Parker in theforenoon, and to Brattle Street in theafternoon, where he-sat in GovernorBowdoins pew. Curiously enough, Trinity Churchoccupies the site of the old Pleiades or Seven Star Inn, from which Sum-mer Street took its ancient name ofSeven Star Lane. There was anothersign of the same name displayed byWilliam Whitwell, a tradesman near the drawbridge, in 1763. Peter Paneuil occupied pew jSTo. 40 in Old Trinity. Wemay easily picture him descending from his chariot on a Sun-. TRIKITY CHURCH IN 1872.
