HST servicing mission. Astronauts Story Musgrave (foreground) and Jeffrey Hoffman seen near the end of the first period of extravehicular activity (EVA) to service the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). Musgrave is seen checking one of the replacement solar panels, whilst Hoffman awaits being ferried to the front of the payload bay on the Remote Manipulator System (RMS) arm. STS-61 was the first servicing mission to the HST in orbit. Five EVA sessions, each with two astronauts, were performed to complete all of the servicing tasks. Mission STS-61 flew on 2-13 December 1993.
