James and David were soldiersin the army of the Union during the re-bellion; the former was a member of the12th United States Regulars, and waskilled at the battle of the Wilderness; thelatter was a member of the same regiment,and was killed accidentally at Fort Ham-ilton. Robert Sirrine, the oldest son, wasborn in McHenry Co., 111., in 1837, andcame to this county with his father. Heis one of the most prosperous and farmers of Lake township. Heresides on section 16, where he has a finefarm of 160 acres; he also owns anotherfarm of 160 acres on section 21. He mar-ried Martha Denslow, daughter of JohnDenslow. She was born in Linn The next to come in were Mr. Rice andMr. Alloway. No others came until 1855, - V9 r.
