HENRY JOSEPH EICKHOFF, Lawyer, wasborn in New York City, January 17, 1856,the son of Anthony and Louisa (Neuenschwander)Eickhoff. His father, a native of Westphalia, Ger- many, came to this country when very young, andhis mother was of Swiss ancestry. He received hisearly education in the public schools of New YorkCity and had a commercial and collegiate trainingat the College of St. Francis Xavier. He entered theLaw School of Columbia, and during his course wasmanaging clerk at the office of Richard graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Lawsin 1875, and immediately came to San Franciscobecause of poor health. On his arrival at the lat-ter city he entered the office of the Hon. PaulNeumann, afterwards Attorney-General of the Ha-. HENRY EICKHOFF waiian Islands. He formed a partnership with in r879, which continued until the lattersdeparture for Honolulu in 18S3, after which practised alone until 1890, when he estab-lished a partnership with the Hon. Curtis H. Lindley,which still subsists. Mr. Eickhoff is a Democrat inpolitics and has been active as such since his arrivalin California. He was one of the Advisory Com-mittee of five in control of the reorganization of theparty in San Francisco in 1S92. He is a memberof the Masonic order and of numerous other socie-ties and organizations. He married, September 13,1882, Jessie M.
