Severe attacks of the rust also occurred in est Virginia in miany sec- tions of which state numerous barberries were found along fences and roadsides grcv/ing wild. V/hile the-barberry eradicati jn campaign was pressed vigorously in ::.ost states of the barberry eradication area, numerous infected oarberries, both cul- tivated and escapedj v.'ere ioand vddely scattered m a- number of states.
