The system planned involved miles, of which part of the county road system proper, the remainder, miles, being provided as part of the Pacheco Pass StateHighway lateral under the 1919 State Highway bond issue,being taken over entirely by the State but originally plannedas a co-operative undertaking by county and state, andconnecting the San Joaquin Valley State Highway with theCoast Highway, also supplying a link in a road plan ad-vocated for years as The Yosemite-to-the-Sea highway
