But, obedience is the first duty of a good soldier. We historians agree that the year 04 wasmade more illustrious when the Class of 08 wasushered upon Clemsons Field of before in the annals of history has so de-termined a band joined forces to seek for thatgrand prize, State Legislature, with a foresight of our true greatness, caused onehundred scholarships to be competed for that year. Those who were fortunateenough to win one of these, have realized their true worth and have worked hardto hold them. In our Freshman year, a page was entered in our class history recording thedeplorable deaths of our fellow class-men, W. W. Coulette, J. T. Weston and J. C. Gossett.
