Beginning at a point approximately correspond-ing to the disc and occupying an extensive area of somewhattriangular shape, passing outward and downward, is a huge massof whitish connective tissue supporting congeries of vessels andnumerous smaller and larger hemorrhages. It is bounded aboveby a glistening band of tissue midway between the disc and theperiphery, best studied
