68D operating room specialist students assigned to the Army Medical Center of Excellence are placed into intense rigors as Surgical Technologists and Nurse Circulators to assess their skills of critical thinking while in the Operating Room setting, Jan. 12, 2023, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. As an operating room specialist, soldiers assist nurses in prepping patients for surgery and providing assistance to doctors during surgical procedures. They ensure that operating rooms and surgical tools are properly sterilized and inspected before and after procedures.
