Anoplocephala tapeworm, coloured environmental scanning electron micrograph (ESEM). This flat and segmented parasite has a very wrinkled appearance. It lives in the intestine of its host and can measure up to 80 centimetres long. The head of this tapeworm has four strong muscular suckers that allow it to bind tightly to the gastrointestinal mucosa without being dragged along with the food passing through.
