A shelf in Ray Rippel’s office at the Five Palms Hotel aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii holds the photos and mementos of his life and reminds him of his achievements. Ray Rippel, director of the unaccompanied personnel housing division, manages the barracks and various living quarters on the installation by day but by night he is a published author of two books.
