GULF (Nov. 10, 2016) - Seaman Vanessa Verges, assigned to the guided-missile destroyer USS Nitze (DDG 94), signals the fast combat support ship USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8) during a replenishment-at-sea. Verges serves aboard Nitze as an undesignated seaman and is responsible for ship preservation, maintenance and deck evolutions. Nitze, deployed as part of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, is supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the 5th Fleet area of operations.
