Preview of 'Age of Endeavour' Exhibition dedicated to Bentley at Bonhams, featuring Bentley Team car 'Mother Gun' 1928 Le Mans winner.


Bonhams New Bond Street took place today ahead of The age of Endeavour Exhibition which is open for one day only on Friday 12th April. The saleroom will be dedicated to Bentley in celebration of the legendary marque's centenary. One hundred years of the racing Bentley is illustrated by the finest Pre-war motor cars and 100 pieces of memorabilia including: Artefacts belonging to Bentley and Iconic Team Bentley cars such as Le Mans and Brooklands legend ‘Mother Gun'.The iconic ‘Mother Gun’, winner of the 1928 Le Mans 24 hours race and holder of 3 130mph Brooklands badges ‘Old Number 3’ – 1930 Brooklands Double Twelve runner up and 1930 Le Mans entrant. Present owners have returned the car to its exact 193O Le Mans spec and trim 1929 Brooklands 500-mile race winner (the era’s fastest long distance race) and Le Mans entry driven by Frank Clement/Class’ Chassagne 1925 3- litre open tourer team car driven by Dudley Benjafield and Bertie Kensington Moir -fastest car in the race but ran out of petrol on the 18th lap! 100 pieces of memorabilia including WO Bentley’s personal effects such as driving licences, beret, pipes and travel clock.
