Erupting Mount Tarawera on New Zealand's North Island created at 10 June 1886 the 17 kilometers long Waimangu Volcanic Rift Valley. It is now the youngest geothermal ecosystem with a wide variety of volcanic features like the Lake Rotomahana with a lot of hot springs and fumaroles like the steaming cliffs here. Der Ausbruch des Tarawera-Vulkans am 10. Juni 1886 schuf auf der Nordinsel Neuseelands das Waimangu-Vulkantal. Das ist das jüngste geothermale Ökosystem der Welt mit einer Reihe vulkanischer Erscheinungen wie Lake Rotomahana mit seinen heißen Quellen und Fumarolen wie die dampfenden Klippen auf dem Bild.
