SECOND PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. 244 The erection of a meeting-housewas begun in June, on the plat ofground on Grand Division Street. OnWednesday, July 12, the trustees re-ceived those of the First PresbyterianChurch, at the house of Gideon Buck-ingham, on the east side of FourthStreet, adjacent the site of the TroyCity National Bank, and with a num-ber of invited ministers proceeded tothe site of the church to lay the cor-ner-stone. In the cavity of the stonewas placed a cast-iron box, on thebottom of which the name of the firmof Starbuck & Gurley, iron-founders,was imprinted, and on the bell-metalcover was lettered: Julius Hanks,July 12, 1826.
