Australian pelicans (pelecanus conspicillatus), at Kiama, New South Wales, Australia.

Australian pelican (pelecanus conspicillatus), one of seven species of pelicans in the world, is widespread throughout coastal and inland waters of Australia, Papua New Guinea and western Indonesia. It is also sometimes found in New Zealand and some western Pacific islands. The pelicans grow to long, but have an extremely light skeleton, which weights less than 10 per cent of the bird's body weight. They feed almost exclusively on fish. Photographed at Kiama on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia.
