These fundamental bandages, together with the methods oftheir construction and application, constitute the foundation onwhich all general bandaging is based. A thorough knowledge of these principles should be acquiredbefore taking up any of the special bandages. A surgeon may bepardoned for not remembering the peculiar turns of some of themany special bandages, but not for showing his ignorance of thegreat principles on which good surgery depends.
