A sabre for officers of the Chasseurs à pied of the Garde Impérial, France, First Empire Lightly curved blade with a Pandour point and narrow groove near the back of the blade. The upper half on each side is etched, blued, and gilded, displaying trophies and a crowned imperial eagle. The obverse side is inscribed, "Chasseurs a pied", the reverse side, "Garde imperiale". Gilded brass knuckle-bow hilt with ornamentation in relief. The obverse languet bears the head of a Roman Caesar in relief. Leather-covered grip with copper wire winding.
