On Thursday, March 16 WSDOT avalanche techs ventured into the closed section of SR 20/North Cascades Highway to assess conditions, snow levels and safety risks. There is still significant amounts of snow in avalanche chutes so risk to start clearing right now is still too high. Crews hope to begin in early April.
