Then in someway the sheriff was shot with his own pistol and was kill-ed. The court will determine just how the killing oc-curred. The shame of the thing is that our public offi-cers should be drinking and drunk; it would have beendisgraceful in the worst days of the saloon; it is doublydisgraceful now. The state is disgraced. Few from Kin-ston to Edenton Street church, Raleigh, to fill the vacan-cy made by the transfer of Dr. Love. No announcementhas been made of the new pastor for Kinston.
