Incense burner with the Big Goose Pagoda on the background at Ci'en Si Temple.


This Tang dynasty pagoda built in AD652 is attached to the extant Ci'en Si. Also known as Dayan Ta it was built in memory of Gaozong emperor's mother Empress Wende by monk Xuanzang and it was meant to protect the sutras scriptures he brought back from his travel to India. This pagoda is a square sturdy structure with a brick exterior and wood interior.
