BEIJING CHINA MAY 2006 After injecting her eyelids to make them swell the plastic surgeon uses a curved needdle to begin his procedure on Zhao Yan, 27, a nurse, to give her double eyelids at the Yaliang Medicine Aesthetic and Plastic Hospital Beijing. Double eyelids are considered more beautiful in China. In this operation the surgeon passed a thread through the inside of the lid from one side of the eye to the other to create a new fold in the skin or a second eyelid. Her eyes will have fully recovered in a month. It is the the simplest and cheapest form of this type of operation costing approx 2 000 RMB (250 US dollars) but may need to be re-done in a few years.
