Leaves dentate, or some- what 3-lobed, often longer than wide, rather densely floccose-pubescent with whitish, persistent hairs on the lower surface, especially along the veins, spar- ingly so on the upper; inflorescence loose; berries black, without bloom, 3"-4" in diameter, pleasantly acid, 1-2- seeded; seeds about 2" long, the raphe narrow.
