'If Everywhere as Successful as in Love, a Great Destiny Awaits Him', 1870. John Campbell (1845-1914), Marquess of Lorne, pictured in Highland dress. In 1871 he married Princess Louise, Queen Victoria's fourth daughter. He served as Governor-General of Canada from 1878-1883 and in 1900 succeeded his father as Duke of Argyll.
