Post-traumatic stress disorder treatment. Virtual reality simulator being used by the US military to help with the treatment of post-traumatic stress

Post-traumatic stress disorder treatment. Virtual reality simulator being used by the US military to help with the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This is a form of exposure therapy, with the soldier being subjected to simulations of the event that caused the PTSD symptoms. The military psychologist (right) is monitoring the scenario with a computer. The soldier (left) is using a head-mounted viewer and handheld device to control his movements through the simulation. This system underwent testing in 2007. Photographed at Madigan Army Medical Center, Washington State, USA.
