Interior of the nave of St Peter's 7th century chapel, built of reused Roman materials on the gateway of Othona Roman fort. It formed part of St Cedd's Anglo-Saxon monastery, served as a beacon-house in Tudor times, later as a barn and is now used as a chapel again by the Othona Community. The modern altar incorporates stones from Lastingham, Iona and Holy Island (Lindisfarne), the three other main places associated with St Cedd.
