Trabi monument at the Zimmerstrasse ‘Square of Everyday Monuments’. Information is on Yellow boards on black fences that look like oversized post-it notes, MItte,Berlin The post office block at the intersection of Wilhelmstrasse and Leipziger Strasse is being redesigned and Karo Architects called their winning design ‘Post-it’. The colours used will be the recognisable black and yellow of the postal service and the area is bordered with black, transparent metal fences. The plaza material will be dark basalt gravel and the surrounding paths will be painted black. Benches are yellow and information on the history of the post office block, the communication museum or the E-Werk, is supplied on yellow boards that look like oversized post-it notes. The planners have called the square on Zimmerstrasse “Square of Everyday Monuments” and all sales pavilions, snack bars and kiosks will be painted yellow. The square is home to the ‘Trabi’ company and Die Welt hot air ballon Trabi monument at the Zimmerstrasse “Square of Everyday Monuments”.
