Sita finds the Indian hero Rama, her husband, among the Lotus Blossoms.
In the Indian epic poem Ramayana, the hero Rama is the heir to the kingdom of Ajodhya Rama, and, with his half brothers, makes up the avatar or incarnation of the god Vishnu. Sita is Rama's wife. According to one legend, when Rama and Sita were on their honeymoon, they were wandering at night and Rama entered a pond with lotus flowers, the symbol of purity, until only his head was showing. In art, Sita is often shown with Rama, and she holds a blue lotus flower.
