The popularity of his candidacy for this office and the esteem inwhich he was held by the public at large was evinced by the factthat he was nominated by the Republican, Democratic and UnionLabor parties, and elected to the term of six years by a large the expiration of his term in 1912 he was again elected by asubstantial vote. He is a member of the Native Sons of the Golden\A^est and the Olympic Between the two great mountain ranges of California, the SierraNevada on the east and the Coast Range on the west, lies the GreatCentral valley, drained by the San Joaquin and the Sacramento valley extends from, the Tehachapi mountains on the south toMt.
