Henry I, King of England. The youngest son of William I, the Conqueror, Henry I (1068-1135) became king in 1100. After defeating his brother Robert in a war for control of England and Normandy, his reign was notable for judicial and financial reform as well as seeing the beginnings of the breaking down of the divisions between the Norman and Anglo-Saxon elements of England's society.
