When his daughter was old enoughand had leained to ride sufficiently well toleave the ring, she usually accompanied herfather. Her teacher was Mrs. Beach, who hashad most of the Newport women as pupils inriding. No parents could have been more carefulin the bringing up of a child than have beenthe Drews with their daughter. Since his appearance as a star, Mr. Drewsdomestic life has been more or less brokenup, although with every opportunity that haspresented itself he has clung to it as tena-ciously as possible; at the same time notaUovnng his having become somewhat of arover to interfere in the least with the carefuleducation of his daughter.
