In 1914. through the influence of the Fort Madison FirstAssociation, the Acme Manufacturing Company, makers of chande-liers and novelties in brass work, took possession of the old plant andremodeled it to adapt it to the new line of business. The Brown Paper Company was formed as the Fort MadisonPaper Company in 1SS2 and buildings for the manufacture of straw-wrapping and building paper were erected in the western part ofthe city.
