An officer's pistol, Joseph Lamotte in St. Etienne, circa 1780. Smooth bore, humped barrel in 14 mm calibre with a silver front sight on top, two illegible gold-filled marks on the breech, and a "V"-notch rear sight on the tang. Flintlock inscribed "Lamotte L'aine" and "St. Etienne" on the lock plate. Walnut stock with iron furniture, some with cut decoration. Removable pommel with an iron cap, engraved with trophy decoration. Iron ramrod. Some patina on the metal parts. Length 38 cm.
