The year following his first marriage he was converted andjoined the First Baptist church of Athens. Almost immediatelyhe felt called to preach, but it was nearly three years later be-fore he entered upon the active work of the ministry, havingbeen licensed and ordained by his home church, under the pas-toral charge of Rev. The work immediately took on new life and in two months thecongregation moved out and built St. James, which he servedfour years. He accepted the call of the Mt. Sinaichurch in Clarke county, where, in a pastorate of twenty-oneyears, he has baptized over two hundred. During a twentyyears pastorate at Summerhill he has baptized 130 and in sevenyears at Hillsboro has baptized sixty. With increasing yearsand experience his work has become more and more has served Mt. Zion fourteen years and added 230 went to St. Matthews when there was no organization, andafter holding a meeting baptized thirteen converts whom he or-ganized into a new church which in four
