But it subsequently occurred to me thatthe prosody might be indicated, as well as the pronunciation at the sametime, by always placing the mark after a long vowel, as liniger, linea,lorica, and after the consonant which follows a short one, as lanius, Ufuus,lificen ; which method has been systematically adopted throughout thelatter half of the volume.
